Kaymich enhances filtration system for gravity hot melt tanks
SHEFFIELD, UK (27 February 2017) - C.B. Kaymich & Co. Limited, world leaders and innovators in providing solutions for adhesive application and fluid control systems, are pleased to announce the availability of an upgrade to their hot melt tank filters as part of their ongoing commitment to offer the best quality products.
The Company’s GT6 series of gravity hot melt tanks have been redesigned to provide improved filtration for gravity fed systems. This new design offers enhanced filtration which means that no contamination is possible, eradicating any blockages and subsequent downtime.
In addition, the new 700µ strainer has a positive seat because it is screwed into place, facilitated by a new stop valve assembly which provides the mating thread. This eliminates the possibility of the operator replacing the strainer incorrectly after cleaning.
With the potential increasing speeds of making machines in the future, Kaymich strives to make all new products futureproof. This new filtration system offers that futureproof capability, as Michael Bedford, Kaymich Managing Director, explains; “second stage filtration can easily be added very simply at a later date, just by removing the strainer cap, inserting a 150µ cartridge and replacing the cap. This means that any investment now will not only serve to provide a greater quality product today but will also make the tank ready to be upgraded to a pumped system when the time arrives.”

Kaymich releases mixer for homogenisation of liquids
SHEFFIELD, UK (18 January 2017) - C.B. Kaymich & Co. Limited, world leaders and innovators in providing solutions for adhesive application and fluid control systems, are pleased to announce the release of their Tank Agitation System, designed to be used with liquids containing particles within suspension, to keep them suspended within the mix and prevent separation.
The Tank Agitation System is designed to work alongside the company’s flagship Gemini System, the market leading on-line flavour application system for the tobacco industry, to ensure a homogenous mix of liquids and prevent individual ingredients from separating out. Its simple technology delivers an effective and economic solution which reduces melt time for menthol and also ensures all substances remain blended, and it can be installed easily by a competent factory engineer.
Comprising a quality stainless steel impeller and motor, as well as an interface box which is managed and controlled by inclusive software operated through the main Gemini unit, this new system provides an efficient quality product solution. In addition, the pump and impeller are magnetically coupled so there is no need to compromise the integrity of the tank, guaranteeing it is leak free.
The new Tank Agitation System is available now to new Gemini customers but can also be retrofitted to units manufactured from 2013 onwards – to check compatibility, please contact Kaymich directly.

New Product Developments from Kaymich impress visitors at WT Europe, Hamburg
SHEFFIELD, UK (15 November 2016) - C.B. Kaymich & Co. Limited, world leaders and innovators in providing solutions for adhesive application and fluid control systems, successfully exhibited at this year’s WT Europe event in Hamburg, Germany.
The Kaymich team reported a great response from visitors to their booth and were delighted by the reaction to their industry leading Gemini product. “The Gemini System is the latest version of the first on-line flavour application system introduced to the tobacco industry 28 years ago” commented Michael Bedford, Managing Director at Kaymich. He continued; “Many of our customers are already benefitting from Gemini’s ease-of-use and effective heating system, and it was great to demonstrate its real versatility and discuss real-world advantages to a wider audience at the show.”
As well as demonstrating the Gemini in action on their booth, Kaymich also previewed some exciting new product developments which extend the company’s product portfolio, including the Tank Agitation System which is designed to work alongside the Gemini System to ensure a homogenous mix of liquids. Its simple technology delivers an effective and economic solution which reduces melt time and also ensures all substances remain blended. Another new product, the Gemini Data Capture with Barcode reading and labelling, was particularly well received in Germany with visitors recognising the quality assurance which this product provides with its customised configuration providing batch traceability. Gemini Tank Agitation system
The Flavour Tank Agitation System is a mechanical means of ensuring a homogeneous or consistent mix of flavours within the tanks, preventing individual ingredients within a flavour mix from separating out over time. The versatility of the Kaymich Gemini has led to its use with an increasing range of flavours, sometimes in combination. The need for an in-tank agitation system arose as a result. Using simple technology to deliver an effective, economic solution, the Tank Agitation System is now available to specify as part of your new system purchase or to retro-fit to existing Geminis.
Data Capture and Storage software with barcode reader and labeller.
Our Kaymich Data Capture and Storage software now includes the use of barcode technology, offering the user the ability to clearly identify products such as filters, foil or cigarettes. Whether for use internally within the manufacturing department or as an additional service for end-customers, this new development for Gemini is ideal for manufacturers of filters, foil or batch cigarette volume. Gemini S – ATEX version.
Building on the pedigree of our highly successful Gemini family, we are excited to announce the development of our new ATEX version, the Gemini S. Primarily designed for use with alcohol based flavours, and the Gemini S provides a Safe method of applying flammable substances. Utilising same core componentry as the rest of the Gemini family, the Gemini S delivers; safety, accuracy and reliability.
Modular Flavour Dispensing System.
Our new Modular Dispensing System enables the customer to choose from a selection of modular components to build a flavour dispensing system that simply meets their immediate production needs. The Base Unit comprises a case, a pump, pre-pump filter, power supply, fluid path connections for input and output, and a built in standard PLC control. The customer then chooses from various cost options such as tanks, hoses, applicators, HMI to complete their system, which can be built up to be heated or cold and even ATEX compliant. This system was initially designed for entry level use or for customers with very specific, limited flavour application requirements. By offering core componentry from the Gemini range of application systems Kaymich are able to provide new users with proven technology at very economic price.
Laboratory Dispenser.
The Laboratory Dispenser is a system to automate the manufacture of small batches of sample products for validation testing, and can again be built to suit individual specifications to deliver accurate, reliable, repeatable dosing of flavour. Modular in design to deliver versatility, the Laboratory Dispenser is also small to provide ease of use and economy when producing small batches, avoiding waste and the need to produce large volumes of flavour for small production batches.
Pellet Detection.
Our innovative Pellet Detection System will be used on-line or off-line to verify the position of the capsules within filters, checking both radial and axial location within a defined tolerance.
Pumped hot melt for filter manufacture.
In light of the developments in makers and materials for filter manufacture, we have developed a pumped adhesive application system for singular or multiple hot melt lines to meet these needs. The Pumped Hot Melt System is offered either as a complete upgrade system of can be taken by OEM’s for integration into their system controls, and can be taken either alone or in combination with existing PVA application technology to meet the filter manufacturer’s specific needs.
Contactless PVA application for side seam (cigarette or filter).
The MV2A6-1S Spray Valve enables the user to produce very clean, accurate lines of PVA glue less than 3mm wide, without overspray. In packaging solutions, the valve has been successfully used to provide supplementary PVA lines to conventional hot melt applications, with further trials confirming high tack (fibre tear) with the modified MV valve to be a viable solution to the Side Seam requirement, when using suitable adhesive and settings.
TPA3000 MKII Tipping Paper Applicator.
Designed to combat high-speed application issues and variety in materials due to brand changes, the Kaymich TPA3000 MKII has been developed to take the best of the innovative single roller application system, now adding a transfer roller to aid paper contact and ensure more uniform glue transfer during the cigarette tipping process.
